...to have them install the restored frame along with a Al Knoch top. They powder coated the frame so it'll never have to be done again.
Clint (on the left) and his crew did a first rate job all around. I highly recommend them.

I sent my frame to Coffmans and had them restore it and then took my '66 to their shop...

About to restore my top also and was considering to powder coat frame.
Did the powder coating not increase the weight a lot?

and I never really gave the weight any consideration. I think powder coating for convertible top frames is now being widely used for it's durability. It's an ideal medium for that application.

Not that I can tell. I use powder coating on many of my shop projects:

Paragon restores top frames, and has kits for the DIY'ers - they're only about an hour north of you.

How involved is the convertible top install for us DIY'er types?

Normally I do my own work. I just arranged to have our top done by the guy who did our E-Type seats (which are a b+++h). He said C2 Corvettes are a bit hard to do as the current tops aren't made the same as the originals at the rear. It's tempting to save the ~ $650 for the install and have the satisfaction, but we just didn't want to take the chance. A real pro means no risk, do it yourself does present at least some risk. The install cost is high enough to cause some thought, but it is a kind of unique skill set.

I'm confident you'll be happy with their work. Good luck.
