Thanks I almost switched it out but decided not to. When I was 16 a good friend drove a 1965 big block and I loved the hood. His dad own a chevy dealership so we had the whole lot to choose from when gearheads would trade in their cars. One of my favorites was a 1968 camaro convertible SS/RS with 350/350 4 speed. Black with red interior. I ended up buying an 1966 L79 4 speed chevy II SS with marina blue with blue interior. I wish I still had that car. With mods the car ran high 12's in the quarter mile.

OK Guys and Gals here goes:
Cost of 1964 color change paint from silver/blue to rally red.
SPI expoxy paint one gal - 180.00
Dupont primer one gal - 210.00
Rally red base coat 1 gal - 615.00
Clear 190.00
Sand paper and misc items 75.00
Mask and tape 25.00
Scope creep:
Windshield and new rubber 200.00
Recrhome bumpers 900.00
emblems 110.00
fix things I broke 35.00
Sanding and painting help 700.00
Fiberglass materials 48.00
Hours worked: my time 160 hours.
A grand total of $3,288.00.
Not bad for a home garage paint job. Most estimates were between 7 and ten grand just for the paint. I really did enjoy it most of the time but now its time to work on a 1955 Chevy 2 door stationwagon. It is totally complete except for a hood. 6 cylinder blue flame with three on the tree. Good luck to anyone else who decides to take the plunge.
