Mystery Seats in a '66 anyone's guess is better than mine....
Hey folks,
I have a '66 roadster that is very non-original. It came with a set of seats in it that I am almost certain are not the original mid-year vette seats and probably not vette seats at all. I would be most grateful to anyone who could ID these mystery seats. The mounting for the seats to the floor needs to be redone so that that they are safely anchored to the car. I am not interested in original seats and perfectly willing to go with an aftermarket set-up that is safe, comfortable and looks good. Thoughts?
Thanks,
qrance

Something mid 70's into 80's. If it was me I would throw them out and get C4 or C5 seats

It was very common back in the early 70's to have custom covers made because stock covers were not available, and most places would have the regular seat cover guy make them . I needed new seats in 1971 and wound up with roll and pleat seats and panels.
When I restored the car again in 1982 , new repro panels became available and they lasted until now and are still in the car.... same with seat covers, and they are starting to look it
Seat covers are new (2012)

we haven't had stock seats in our Porsche in quite sometime
But they look like early 911 seats to me!

An upholstery shop that specializes in '50s through '70s cars might be able to identify by the recline lever or even the seat tracks. Any numbers stamped down in those areas?

I thought that headrests became required by law starting with 1968 model year cars?
Don't these seats predate headrests?
