"LAST Straight Axle Corvette"...
A Cruise buddy gave me the August 2014 issue of AUTaBUY (Your #1 Source for Cars) magazine. A full-page ad from Park Place LTD 13710 NE 20th St., Bellevue, Washington 98005 shows 12 vehicles available, one of which is a '62 Vette. The description reads: "1962 Chevrolet Corvette...The LAST Straight Axle Corvette! The very final 1962 Corvette built. Documented one owner since 1965. 327/300hp, 4 spd., hardtop. $174,950"
Didn't a Forum member own the "last" one? Did he sell it?

I think the forum member you're thinking of put it in an auction but it was a no sale (didn't reach reserve). If I remember right Park Place LTD is high end and he probably has it on consignment.

That's a great price - less than 1/3rd of the hammer price of the "Last Stingray"! There must not be the same marketing hype behind the 62.

Not to hijack thread but that's pretty cool DZ. I also have 5 old crank phones interconnected around our home and garage. And I remember when one of the wooden wall phones was our only real phone on a party line. Oooo we're gettin old!

I'm with ya'. It gets to be almost comical when people try to dredge up some contrived unique aspect to their cars to make them more interesting. The C1/C2 registries are the worst for this...some owner goes through the fuzzy math option calculator on the web site and finds out he has "1 of 1 cars with Saddle Tan interior and power windows". Its a riot.

As far as the last C1 or last C2, I think it's kind of cool and interesting to talk about but not worth the price that is driven up by all the hype. The last C2 (currently owned by ProTeam, I think) sold for around $600,000. My car rolled off the line that same day but my car cost over $500,000 less than the last one. I think I got the better bargain <LOL>.

My 12yr old granddaughter did not have a clue how to dial and talk on the phone in the phone booth. My son had to show her. Once she learned how to dial, we couldn't get her out of the phone booth----------------------she had to call all her friends!

But young "automotive" writers, especially for newspapers, seem to get all kinds of old Corvette facts and terminology screwed up so bad I just want to give 'em an earful.
And THANKS for all the Pro Team "Last Sting Ray" info!

Seems to be a trend here:
connected to another one in my shop and used often.
I also own a 1of1 62 Corvette. it's the only one with a vin ending in 3252.

I heard the last C-2 actually isn't even a numbers matching car. Read an article that the original engine was blown, lost or ? and they had to put a replacement together. So, another 1st, highest price paid for a NOM corvette.

That really has little effect on the sales price of the car. That is not what the buy is paying for. It has no premium for me but it does for others.
