Default High Pressure Fuel Hose VS Regular Fuel Hose

Every year or two I have to replace my rubber fuel hoses due to hardening and cracking thanks to ethanol. Does anyone use the high pressure fuel hoses instead of the regular hoses? I know there is a plastic type liner in the hoses and I was not sure whether a hose clamp would properly secure it. Thanks

Tell us what engine and carb you are running. You might actually be in line to use factory hard lines. Dennis

i am using the high pressure hose on the supply side of my EFI, the regular hose on the return side.

both types seem to be holding up.

Read this.

You should be able to draw some conclusion as to what you need from this Gates publication.

I use SAE spec 30R7 and I don't have any problem with rubber fuel hoses and ethanol fuel.

The SAE spec should be imprinted on the hose.

I'd consider replacing those hose clamps with the banded FI type.

Here's an article I wrote about hoses last year. It deals with race cars for the most part but the information is good for all cars.

btw - I've sworn off ethanol in my collector cars. I found "recreation gas" at my local Marathon station. I have 4 5-gallon cans that I fill and take to my cave when it's time to drive one of the cars.

Also, if the car is going to sit for more than 30 days I pump all of the gas out.
