Default Running Too Rich - Black Smoke - How???

I have a 58 corvette with the original carb, and have most telling me the car is running too rich. Can anyone offer steps on to to adjust and possibly provide pictures of the screws I am working with????

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Did this just happen, or is this after a carb rebuild?

Is the choke blade opening fully? Fuel bowl level too high or possibly a leaking fuel bowl float also come to mind.

Checking the Carb choke is open ,then remove the two left side screws in the center bowl and if gas pours out the floats are stuck to high

See post #2 in your other thread. If the choke is fully open, you have trash in the float bowl likely from a bad fuel tank. Both your posts are likely related to the same root cause. Pilot Dan

if your carb looks like this, replace the tank. That brown stuff is rust dust from the tank.
