Default Cannot Get Seats Back In

I'm just finishing up a 4 month restore of the interior and engine compartment on my 66 vert. Have the seats, console and center arm rest left.

PROBLEM>>> the tapered rear tracks do not line up with the bolt down brackets. The tracks are about 1" wider. What the F??

I did put down a sound deadener, a heat barrier (Frost King) and then my carpet. Carpet went down great just took some time. I cut around the brackets and front bolt holes just enough to get to everything when I put the seat in. Tried to slide the rear track into the brackets and it was not going.

Do I need to cut a channel out of the carpet, sound and heat barriers so the seat track can set flat on the floor in order to get everything to line up?

HELP from the MidWest at 102 degrees.

Mike

From the factory the seat tracks set on the floor. I not sure if that will help you or not

I checked the carpet I took out and it was cut out about 8" front and back on each side. I may have to do like the factory did.

Thanks. Mike

Page 42 in your '66 JG has a photo of the factory seat track cutouts in the carpet, and describes them in detail; here are some more.

I've had this vette for 20 years and never been this frustrated. But figured it out. I put the sliding tracks on the opposite sides of the frame. Had the flat side on the inside rather than the outside. That made up the difference in not meshing up with the rear brackets.

C2 Verts WILL humble you.

Would you mind giving me the cut out details (measurements)?

Thanks. Mike

Hey 66 Soft Top!

Congrats on coming down the home stretch. I am doing the same with a 67 Vert. I started last october, and now just have a few electrical gremlins to expell.

Post pics of your car!

Here is mine

What's wrong with these pictures? The solution to my problem is in the pictures.

Notice the seat track flat side faces out. CORRECT

The seat trace flat side faces in. <br/>WRONG

Problem fixed. Thanks to all.
