Not sure if they still do it but at one time K&N would "make" a filter to your specs at a minimal upcharge over the standard size.

Le Mans Master
When we put together my Dad's 300 horse 65 Coupe, we didn't have an original carb or air cleaner and were out of the later 14" open element filter housings with the dropped lower section that we used on my Coupe. The one we did have didn't have enough of a drop to allow the typical 3" K&N but a search through Summit found that K&N did make a shorter element, around 2".
