Default 1966 Corvette Coupe Stolen

July 15, 1996 during the wee hours of the morning our 1966 corvette coupe was stolen. The VIN# is 194376S118489.
The police in Jackson, MS were unconcerned and even wanted to take it off the stolen vehicle report because they had too many stolen vehicles.

A 1966 Corvette Coupe: Color: Nauseau Blue w/matching blue interior Engine: 327 cubic inch
Horsepower: 300 HP --- Holly 4-barrell --- automatic transmission --- power steering/power brakes/AC

Car was original except the engine numbers did not match the serial number on the car.

What do you think happened to our car?

It would be helpful to know the color, int/ext, engine, and anything else special about it, however small a detail it might be. Help us help you! Dennis

Most likely has a new VIN and is cruising around at the car shows.

Why on earth was it parked in the front yard. It could have been parted out or a new vin placed on it and its regerstered free in clear to someone

A man living in Colorado just found his Corvette stolen 33 years ago in Jackson, MS.

A lady living in Jackson, MS also found her Mustang stolen years ago.

Never hurts to keep trying.......

Default NICB: 1 in 10 Corvettes Stolen Between 1981 and 2011

Excellent article on the tendency of Corvettes to be stolen...
http://news.onlineautoinsurance.com/...nsurance-97226

When the VIN is run with the NICB, through VINCheck, it is listed as "...has not been identified as a vehicle listed in the VINCheckSM Theft Records."

I believe that after a period of inactivity Stolen VIN reports are dropped from the active National Crime Information Center (NCIC is the FBI's database) database and can only be reactivated by the agency that initially made the input. You might want to check back with the agency you initially filed the stolen vehicle report with and ask them if it remains active in the NCIC database. If not, how does it get reactivated?

Good luck... GUSTO

Here's an article published in 2012 that illustrates the problems and frustrations encountered when try to recover a long ago stolen vehicle.

A Texas man whose prized sports car was stolen 42 years ago recovered the vehicle in California after spotting it on eBay, authorities said Sunday.

Good luck... GUSTO

Your car was either parted out or had a vin tag switch. I think if you had the body number from the trim tag you could run find it that way.
