Jay Leno and his new McLaren P1
Interesting article about Jay and his cars:
http://www.latimes.com/business/auto...ry.html#page=1
Jay has to be the ultimate "car guy". He's in it for the fun, not the investment potential. He just buys what he likes and he drives them.
I assume he has Corvettes. Anyone know what models?

Thanks Ratdog-great read! I have seen an article with him in his split window but I believe he has others as well. Maybe someone else will know the years. Can you imagine keeping them all licensed. You'd have to have a full time bookkeeper to keep up with it. He appears to be a great guy as I know he does a lot behind the scenes with Wounded Warriors etc

“The Los Angeles Times ran a front page story on Jay Leno and his classic car collection. He owns one hundred thirty of the greatest cars made over the last century. It’s hard to estimate the exact worth on his car collection, but last year, Jay Leno saved forty million dollars just by switching to Geico.”

Interestingly, Jay has never spent a dollar of his earnings from his TV salary (over $20 million/yr.) on anything; he has invested all of it over the years, and has never touched it. He lives on his income as a stand-up performer when he took time off from the TV show, which covered his home AND his car/bike collection. Smart guy!

I believe he just acquired a 63 split window with the 327-340 horse motor. Sebring silver with black interior. I think it had a full frame off resto. I saw it on the velocity channel.

For a long time, I think Jay had no Corvettes in his collection...not until the C5 came out.
I believe I remember him saying the Vette was not a car he could relate to when he was young because it was a "rich kid's car."
Now he's got a number of Corvettes.
The ones I've read about are a couple of C5s, the E85 ZO6, the Pratt & Whitney C6RS, a ZR-1 and his 1963 fuelie.
I'm sure there are more.

He sounds like a really great guy from everything I've heard and seen! I know he has full time people to help maintain/manage his collection, but I just cannot fathom haveing that many autos/bikes!! We have 6 cars/trucks and 1 bike, and sometimes I feel like I don't do all of them justice!! I'd sure be willing to give it a shot though!!

...and I sure didn't know you could make millions doing sideline gigs, which is what it took to buy and maintain his cars. Plus I'm pretty sure he doesn't live in a tent...so there's a few hundred grand there...if not more.
What do sideline gigs pay him anyway? He must do "a lot" of them.... or something!!

I got the 50,000 sq ft location picked out, the mechanics I would hire, the 50 cars I would buy.....Now all I need is the $20 million salary or even one time lump payment would suffice.
