Earlier this year I profiled Dr. Dick Thompson in an article in First Class Glass, the newsletter of Santa Clara Corvettes in northern California. I’d been lucky enough to talk to him by phone last year, when he signed my ’67 convertible’s chrome air cleaner cover that I’d sent him. I met him briefly at Laguna Seca two or three years ago during the Historics.

I mailed a copy of my newsletter article to him and he and his wife were kind enough to send me a thank-you letter, which I thought I’d share with you guys. Sounds like they’re enjoying their C7!

For those unfamiliar with The Flying Dentist, he helped establish the Corvette as a serious race car in the 1950s and early 1960s, and helped save our favorite car from extinction at the hands of the GM bean counters.

Very nice gesture on his part. He was one of the greatest Corvette racers of all time.

Dick Thompson also co wrote a book with Donn Munson named "Corvette Guide" published in 1958.
