Default Mecum Auction - Seattle

Did anyone else watch the Mecum Auction in Seattle this weekend? I was suprised to see, that 80% of the cars didn't sell. They had a reserved. There was a black 63 SWC, non-matching, with a 350 chevy motor, that was up to $80,000, and didn't sell because of the reserve.
$80,000 for a NON-MATCHING 63 swc, are you crazy? And the owner thought it was worth more?

We took 14 vehicles sold 11. Very pleased with results. First Mecum ever, usually BJ in Scottsdale. Low key and professional. Will go back next year.

Default My experience at Mecum.

Although my car didn't reach the reserve, I still had a very good experience. I learned a lot and had fun doing it. The TV people did an excellent job with my car. The auction people seemed to be in a hurry to get on to the next car. I understand why and the next time I won't be so surprised.

IMO on why so many cars didn't sell, is that there just weren't that many bidders there. The 30,000 to 40,000 cars seemed to do just fine. There were quite a few very nice cars that should have at least gotten a bid but didn't.

There was a hemi charger that did not get a single bid even at 40,000.

I think it was nice local auction, but it didn't get the national attention the bigger auctions get.

I searched the Mecum site, and the black SWC claims to have the numbers match engine. There was a white SWC with a NOM FI engine that got $90K.
