Hey! That looks like our car! Wait a sec... it IS!
I was replacing the heads with a set of Brodix Race Rites, and I guess I had a few dollars left that needed to be put to good use.
I had a Comp Cams LS6 Nostalgia+ solid flat tappet cam installed before, and it was fun. I kept hearing about how the retro roller cams provide more torque at lower RPMs, so I decided to try one. We do a lot of touring with the car, and I thought that having more torque at lower RPM would fit better with the way we were using the car. (That's what I told my wife)
I called Chris up and told him the specs of the engine, and that I needed a cam that would work well with the Atomic EFI system I had installed, and more importantly, it was imperative that I would be able to get by Roy (67-427ci) and his ZZ454 with authority! (I could beat him before, but not with the authority that I have now!)
Chris provided a roller hydraulic cam and a set of Morel lifters that accomplished both goals very well.
With the old cam, I could slowly roll on the gas in first and the tires would break loose. Now, first and second gears warm up the tires, and they are just holding on by their fingernails in third!
The funny thing is, is that I never told Roy about the new cam.
I wonder if he'll read about it here.

I was planning on telling him that I just put in a set of those E3 spark plugs or something, and that's why it's so much faster. There was some talk about putting a dummy box with a switch on it in the engine bay that I would switch to "Performance", but I knew that Roy would see through that, especially when I couldn't keep a straight face.

I should also give props to Classic Chambered Exhaust. Unfortunately, the sound on the video really doesn't do justice to how the car sounds in person. Classic Chambered custom made the side pipe sections for me. They are their 2-3/8" flow path pipes. They normally configure them with 20" of chambered section and 20" of resonator section. They made mine with 26" of resonator with the 20" of chambered. Everyone seems to like how it sounds!
