what to use - - to clean a aluminum manifold
Does anyone know the trick on cleaning your aluminum manifold, while its still on the car - to give it that "bright new look" again?

If it's off the car...
I've experimented with many methods, but I like using Aluma-Brite.
Spray it on, let it foam for 30 seconds and then rinse it off.
Leaving it on too long can cause blackening, which can be removed by scrubbing with Comet cleanser.
I use Aluma-Brite on valve covers and AFB's too. Love it.
Caution: observe safety precautions because it is acid based.

Aluma-Brite will cause galvanized steel to turn black.
If the alum. turns black, re-apply and scrub and wash off immediately.
You will end up with a kinda white dull alum color
Do not get on glass! it will frost it. (Hydrofloric acid) sp?
It will though, remove rust from badly rusted chrome items. It will slightly dull the surface and it must be protected with wax or clear lacquer right away.
It is available at trailer truck parts stores.
