Default 1969 Camaro

Hello

I was talking Corvettes to a friend of my girlfriend. He knows a guy that has a plan Jane Camaro 327 automatic not much else for possible sell. I have been looking online for a 69 Camaro. I had a 1969 SS 396 Automatic car I paided $3,200.00 (Yeah pretty cheap by todays standards.) In 1987 that was ALOT of money.

I noticed SS, Z28, are sky rocketing out of the atmosphere. They made a lot of them man they are expensive today. Seem like "tribute" SS Z28 are all that ebay sells. I haven't seen a plain Jane Camaro!!! I want more of a cruiser than a bruiser. How much does a plain Jane driver go for? I will take pics if this guy still wants to sell. It run drives and stops. This is sounds like running basket case. What a fair price for that?? My budget isn't much around 10 grand. I was wondering if its possible to buy plain jane driver for 10k?

Thanks

I just bought a 69 and paid 15k. It started out as a PJ and the guy added a 454 and other stuff. 69s are hard to come by at 10 Grand.

Default camaro

There are 2 1967 Camaro's in the 4/14 Hemmings. Both 6cyl drivers. One is 25K the other is 35K. Not 69's, but first year Camaro's. There were no 69 base cars in that issue. Lots of Z28's selling for 50kish.
If the car is a nice driver and it is available for 10K it is a good buy(IMHO).

The biggest thing is rust. And how much repair they need.
At Carisle a few weeks back there was a 69 6 cyl car that was red on red with a decent body that a bunch of dents they where asking 15k.

My friend paid $14,500 for this #'s matching V8 a year ago. No rust, paint was decent, interior is nice, automatic, not rs, ss or z.

I don't think there's much out there in 1st generation Camaros, for $10,000.

A friend of mine (a Corvette dealer), has been dealing a lot lately, in 1st and early 2nd gen Camaros. I think they've been easier to sell lately, then Corvettes.

He has a nice 68 driver right now. It's a numbers matching 327, column shift automatic (no console) in Butternut Yellow with a black vinyl top and interior. The asking price on it is $19,900, and it's the cheapest Camaro on his lot.

A private sale, would obviously be little cheaper, but I'm not sure all that much.

A complete intact driver meaning not needing everything for 10k or less grab it. I cannot believe how the 69s have skyrocketed.
better to get a PJ anyway who knows how many of the rs ss etc are butchered fakes.
Sold my 69 SS in 89 for $3500....and my 67 rs for 1200 in 87. Could kick myself. Kept having the M22 (a real one) rebuilt only to have it "break" again and again. Looking back it was just some worn bushings.
Guy towed it home fixed them and drove it for yrs, about killed me.

Ill play the game.. Here are my two. The black one is a 10-10 X77D80 car. Non Numbers matching anything, (gutted when I got it in 97.)

The blue one was my fathers car, and he left it to me when he passed in 2010. A real L34 car. One of 2000 or so made. The paint that is on it has been on it since 1972 the year he got it. Only thing he added was in 1987 a rear spoiler.

Enjoy, as they are priceless to me.

Not saying impossible but finding a decent any first gen Camaro for 10K especially a 69 is almost impossible. I've seen some real basket cases for that but not any kind of driver quality and not getting any better as prices are on the rise. And yes prices are on the rise as for example 69 Z/28's went up in value about 18% the past year. A real RS can add 12 to 20% to the value of a Camaro also. Note to the aforementioned, a real black Z is hard to find. good score......

Default Camaro

I picked up a 69 a few months ago that started out as a green/green six cylinder w/3-speed col shift. Now is a Lemans Blue w/Blk interior and has a 454 with 4-speed. I am now putting a 12 bolt rear with Wilwood disc brakes on it. I bought it for a hot rod and is a blast to drive.

'69s are the "'67 'Vettes" of first-gen Camaros.

(But I llso appreciate the simple purity of base-model '67 Camaros, even with dog-dish hubcaps! But what do I know, I've had a '64 for almost 50 years.)

Here is 69 convertible with 454 at an estate auction. I sent in a absentee ballot for the Kawasaki.

I love the car.

I picked this one up for $3500.

But that was in 1989, and it was a PJ.

In the mid 70's I had a '67 SS396 Camaro that I sold for $1050. Looks like I should have kept it.

Looks great! Love the cross-ram setup.

What suspension setup are you running?

We've kicked around the idea of doing more of a "pro-touring" setup. Yours looks great.

A real Z/28 certified by MacNeish with Detroit Speed Suspension, disc brakes all 4 corners, Tremec 5 speed, Original documented cross-ram & carbs, original DZ block now 383cu.in. with solid roller with alum. heads. Love driving the car as it handles and stops like a car should. If one is going to drive their car the pro-touring type really works well.

Since we are posting first gen Camaros - This is my 67 RS/SS Camaro. 100% original interior 83,000 2 owner miles.

If you can find a real solid running and driving 69 for under 10k - buy it.

Beautiful black Camaro! Also, is there a lake big enough in Iowa to accommodate that sailboat?
