Stock Style Hurst Shifter install tore shift boot.
After installing a new interior, new rubber shift boot , and re painted console I tried to install the Hurst stock style shifter to the Richmond 5 speed. I tried pushing down the rubber boot to allow me to attach the 2 bolts that hold the shift handle to the transmission. The rubber shift boot tore/split open.
Is there a leather type shift boot that will allow me to attach the shift handle that can be closed drawn tight after installation of the shift handle?
The only way I see installing the shift handle is to drop the shift linkage under the car attach the handle and then push the handle up from the bottom of the car through the shift boot.
Is there another way or does anyone know of a shift boot that will allow access for attaching the hear shift handle.
I hate taking the console on and off too many things get scratched.
Thanks
