NCRS Shipping Report

NCRS Shipping Report
Thoughts on NCRS shipping report? I think I am going to get one and join NCRS. I have heard mixed reviews on how much information can be obtained from these reports. Has anyone done one that provided good info that helped them in tracing their car's history?

Some have, some have not. I think it is good to know where your car went and hopefully get more info (if you don't have it). I found out what I thought was a NC car was actually delivered to St.Paul MN. Original dealer has merged, guy is checking to see if still have records. He said back then they shipped a lot of cars to other dealers, (especially sports cars) probably due to the climate/demand in other regions.
So it gave me more information than I had, but not complete.
Also, they provide a really nice displayable document with ncrs logo and gold seal. I am thinking of framing it for display.

I had 2 exactly opposite experiences.
I ordered one for my '69 and my check was returned after nothing was found.
Ordered one on my '63 and the original information for the dealer was extremely useful in locating and then verifying that I'd found the original owner of the car.

First I still am looking periodically for the Zone 20 codes!
Nothing new on it yet Bill!
For you the OP, lets make it interesting and tell us what you think you know prior to getting the info! What state did it come from, from stories passed down when you bought it? If any?
My brother did it on my Dad's car because us kids only remembered him getting it close to the house and I remembered Long Beach Boulevard. Thus he got back one of the famous Dealerships "DANA CHEVROLET" confirming what I thought I had remembered. Thus it was nice to have that verified semi officially by NCRS! Or should I consider the NCRS as official??????? Thus this almost causes me to forgive NCRS's past transgressions against me! Almost! Since then we have been reconnecting with almost all of the relatives who give a $hit, and in that overall family geneology sharing and swapping family pictures with some of the Aunts, Uncles and Cousins we found two things, everyone remembers the car all modified coming off of the DANA lot and the picture I had posted was his first day taking it to his job! I don't think my Father's 80 year old memory is coming back, but he is now agreeing with our research (which is progress!). His mind was stuck on Cone Chevrolet out of Fullerton because they used to give him a sponsorship (some free parts) on this drag racing for a little while in trade for some exposure! Thus even though we have DANA Chevrolet now verified, he still will not remove the Cone Chevrolet plate frame! He threatened my brother with the .45 1911 Colt Gold Cup if he touched it (aka like Eastwood in Gran Torino!). The second was a discovery of a picture with his drag raced 1964 Coupe! I haven't gotten ahold of that shot yet, but really cool and it is soon to be shared! Thus this can be fun if you have success. We also through the family collaborations verified that Uncle Monte had a real honest to god, bubble hood 1964 T-Bolt racer!
On the birthday, I figured out my own date by using both methods and then thinking about it, based on parts codes, how many were being built by good ole arithmetic on known cars etc.. as a comparison!

The information used to create the shipping data report is from the actual GM production record of the specific vehicle.
so believe whichever you wish, only one is from the actual GM record, most of the time the extrapolation is pretty accurate, but not always.

The information found on the internet and in phone apps - are all extrapolations based on published end of month production vin's.

The NCRS report I received on my 1964 Convertible #00068 stated a production date of 9/3/63 and that the name of the delivery dealer was GM Canada. The only thing new to me was the GM Canada part of the report.
I was told to contact George Zapora at GM Canada and he was able to tell me that my car was purchased by GM through the GM of Canada Show Car Account and the car would have been used for promotional purposes at dealerships and shows.
Through the Forum I found member Wayne Midkiff who was extremely helpful with Canadian information he has access to. He was able to find that my car and a coupe#52 were the first to arrive in Canada and arrived on 9/17/63. Both were red/red and shipped to Zone 21, dealer 000.
All-in-all the NCRS report in and of itself was not overly helpful but it led to some very interesting and unknown information on my car that I otherwise wouldn't have found.

For 40 bucks are you kidding me? Why in the world would you not get it???? If they can't find anything they refund you your money....Win/win situation. Noone knows everything about their car...A tank full of high test gas costs more than what you would pay the NCRS for history on your car.....WTH?
