High brake pedal
A friend is finishing up a driver quality '65 that he bought about a year ago that was partially in boxes. He just called and asked me if there was anyway that I knew of to adjust the height of the brake pedal. He says it is considerably higher than the clutch pedal...almost to the point where he has trouble putting his foot on without hitting the underside of the dash. My car is not here to look at to help him and it's too late and too far away to drive over and have a look myself. Thoughts?? Thanks in advance.
He states that the brake assembly was in place when he got the car and that was the height at the time.

Sounds like maybe the rubber pedal bumper is missing and the pedal is swinging up higher than normal? How much actual 'free-play' does he have from all the way up to when it makes contact to the MC piston (or PB booster)? The adjustment to lower the pedal is in the pushrod clevis that is pinned to the pedal arm. Loosen the locknut and you can adjust the height but something is off there otherwise it wouldn't be so high up.

He says a couple of inches (2-3)...I have asked him to check for the rubber pedal bumper...I had completely forgotten about that thing. Will, also, ask him to check pushrod clevis at pedal arm.
thanks for your prompt reply.

Leif - the free play is only supposed to be something like 1/16-inch to as much as a quarter inch. Just enough to make sure the master cylinder piston (or PB booster pushrod) is all the way back. Usually, there aren't enough threads to be able to raise the pedal that high. Is he guessing at the actual free-play dimension or has he actually measured it with a tape measure?
