Where to get a spare tire
I can't close my spare tire cover with my (205/75-R15 spare, which I know is a very common issue.
After some searching I found a thread that recommended a doughnut type spare and that a 1995-1999 S-10 pickup compact spare, T155/90D-16 would fit.
Other than a wrecking yard, does anyone have recommendation on where to find one. I've searched the internet with no luck.
Thanks,
Don

I've been watching for them on ebay for a month or so.. But people don't let them go very cheaply. Word must be out!

I wound up purchasing a new 165/80/15 radial tire from McCormack Racing Inc. which fit the 66 tub perfectly while closing completely with standard size tub hanging bolts. They have a 6.50" section width and are 25.50" tall, $70.00 with free shipping. Link below: (Note they will fit any C1 or C2 rim up to 6" wide)

Many years ago I added a 1956 Belair to my car collection. The car had 27K original miles bought from the original owner. I removed the 4 original bias ply tires for 4 wide white wall bias plies. I later removed them for radials and kept the wide whites along with the originals. I found that the originals were a perfect fit for my 1960 spare. They are in excellent condition. I still have 3 left.

I got a used 205/75-15 from my local Corvette shop for free when I bought a repro steel wheel from them. I even convinced them to mount and balance it for me.
It would have cost them $5 to dispose of the tire.
With the longer bolts, it fits well enough for me.
After all ,it's only a spare.

I paid 25.00 for what looks like a brand new S-10 rim from a salvage yard.

The dirt washed right off, and I rattle-ball painted it.
PS: Be sure to check your air before your trips.
When I was doing my final checks for my trip to corvettes at carlyle my spare was almost flat after only two years of sitting.
