Default New thread removable Xmember

Hello,I've just ordered my flanges from Ray for the removable xmember.
I have two questions for those who have gone before me. My car is a 1966 roadster small block 4 speed.

1. Do I need to weld in temp. braces to the side rails to prevent movement? Engine and trans are in place. Body is off.
2. How far off the center of the transmission should I make my cuts. Bear in mind that I have the bracket for the emergency brake cable to the left of the trans xmember. New exhaust not installed yet.

Thanks for any help.
Al

Any help for APV. I can only mention to support transmission from moving if you don't take the engine out. Not much to take engine out and re paint frame. Frame should't move . Maybe ask Ray. Good luck
