Default 1960-61 top tank radiator value?

I picked up an original top tank rad for 60-61 and was trying to find a value to list it at. I can't even find an original one for sale anywhere or one that has sold. Anyone have any ideas?

Used aluminum rads are tough to sell because it is hard to have them repaired. If you are trying to sell it. I would have it boiled out and pressure checked.

Agree.....I learned that lesson years ago from Tom DeWitt. Chances are that if the rad was stored dry it's now suspect. The stacked aluminum rads are prone to failure unless stored full of anti-corrosive antifreeze/coolant. I bought one at a swap meet for $90, failed, had it repaired twice for $50 more, failed again, now garage wall art.

However, if you recently removed it from a car and it was functional, it has good value to a Bowtie/Survivor owner. But I'd have it tested as suggested. That'd help sell.

If it has the original side brackets and good shape, those are quite likely worth much more separately.

You can't boil out an aluminum radiator.

That radiator is about 40 years past its projected design life, and it's not repairable; not something you'd want to put in a car that's supposed to be a reliable driver.

You might want to save the top tank, especially if it is a early one, w/o the ribs and the "sneak-a-peak" hole - although Tom is probably making those now. Early on, I had him transplant an original early tank to his radiator.

I bought one back in the 80's at the nationals in Williamsburg from a gentleman I believe was from Amityville NY for about $800 best as I can remember. We pressure tested it in the parking lot. It was still good 4 yrs later when I sold the car. Don't know if this helps.
