Ignition Switch release pin InOp
I've removed my ignition switch several times in the past and know the proper procedure of using a paper clip formed into a staple shape etc. The problem is that one of the holes provides the nice feel of pushing on a spring loaded pin but the other hole provides nothing of the sort. It is simply solid. I've tried injecting a bit of KROYL but that didn't do the trick. I hate to get the die grinder out and destroy everything. Any suggestions out there are truly welcome.

Chuck, you have no idea how I wish that your suggestion worked. I tried that approach again but had tried it before posting. Locked solid!! To review: I push in on the spring loaded pin and hold it depressed, then insert key and try to turn CW - locked solid. I remember in times past it didn't take much effort to do.

62 Jeff, I just tried every combination of pushing, turning left, then left some more, then right - NOTHING!! Do you agree that the only the springs loaded hole needs to be actuated? I always remember having to push in on both holes at once.

Yes, I believe only the spring loaded hole is used. Doesn't mean there aren't some two-hole anomalies out there, but I've never heard of anything but a single hole trick for the clip. I've only used a single hole with the paperclip.

1. With key in cylinder, turn as far as you can counter-clockwise until it stops.
2. THEN use the paper clip in the hole to compress the spring.
3. NOW turn the cylinder further to the left with the spring compressed, and the cylinder will pop out.
