Default Vacuum line for FI-setting timing

Can anyone explain which vacuum line to block off on the engine for setting the timing on an engine with FI?

The one that goes to the vacuum advance cannister. Just pull it off the can. On a '63/early '64 FI unit, there's little to no signal at the hose anyway at idle.

I've forgotten what you have.

If your engine has the "914" distributor, and it should, there is no vacuum line to disconnect; there is no vacuum advance mechanism.

I hope you aren't meaning to imply than an L-88 used a "914" distributor.

nope, the L=88`s has a vacuum can, but it is plugged from the factory where as the FI Vettes through 62 never had the can.....However the hydraulic cammed FI engines may have used one...I personally have never seen a hydraulic cammed Vette and don't know one way or the other,...or care if that matters....wouldn`t be fast enough.....

Whats a 914 distributor?

possibly like a 62 FI with no can and dual points...right/wrong?

1961 Fuelie with 914 distributor...so no vacuum line to detach.

I got the timing set. Using a dial back timing light for the first time with digital rpm read out was awesome!

I really tried to help you a few times catch that you never mention the year car you're working on and that delays the correct answer to your question. Not a lot of people keep up with what car every forum name has.
