For no deduction - it should be painted blue with the rest of the engine and intake manifold
now....you can put something under the blue to help preserve the blue
But the intake and exhaust manifold were installed together prior to paint
They both should be blue.
Hope this helps

with Chris, the intake and exhaust manifolds were painted so if you are going to have your car judged by NCRS or Bloomington Gold and want to keep all your points paint them both. Maybe back in 1953 and 54 they did not know that paint would burn off when the manifold got HOT or they were lazy or to save time they just painted then on the motor when thy painter the motor. Good luck on having it judged. You should get you a judging manual and go thru it step by step if you plan to have the car judged.

Additionally - the intake and exhaust manifold is where the engine was "grabbed" to be installed in the chassis.
altho...it is not a blue flame assy line - you get the idea.....
I know there are a couple photos out there....
