with will have "--" were the paint code is. if the owner wanted to have the car judged it must be as delivered. so primer it will. there is a forum member from Oh that had one and the car is in the MF dobbins book

I am pretty sure that the Ohio owner has had this car in his possession more than once in its lifetime.....

To each his own but I don't think I could enjoy a car that was sitting around in permanent primer.

OTOH, it would save a lot of time and money on waxing .

Though not necessarily an "odd" colour combination I did look at a '65 coupe that was Silver Pearl with a Maroon leather interior. That is gorgeous.

I have seen a few cars with "PRIME", listed as the paint code.

Back in the 70"s. there was a body shop in the DC area, that did a lot of custom paint work. They were tied into a Corvette club (Sting of the Rays?) and a Chevy dealer, in DC. The dealer ordered a number of Corvettes in primer, for members of the club, and the shop would custom paint them. Those cars had "PRIME" listed as the paint code.

I do agree though, if you brought a car to NCRS for judging, that had PRIME as the paint code, it would have to be primer, or would get a full deduct for paint.

Ray - I saw a '65 white/maroon car at the place I eventually bought my car. As you say, also not an odd combination but a pretty car. I've never seen another one. I'd love to see a black/maroon car.

The car has been restored and is in primer. I believe I was told the tag is blank, but perhaps provette67 or the owner who is a CF member will chime in.

maroon interior
my choice would be the white/maroon, though it would look great with a silver or black exterior

At one time with GM, and it most likely was true for Corvettes, if you ordered 5 cars at once you could have it painted any color you wanted

Speedboat racer Bob Nordskog ordered and took delivery of his early SWC in primer, and that's what its data plate indicates. It was immediately taken to Barris Kustom City to be modified into the famous, show-winning "Asteroid" custom, recently restored.

(AIR one of the mods was removing the split )

Trim tag is blank where the paint code would go in 66.

In addition to my Daytona Blue/red SWC, I had a 66 coupe with Nassau Blue/silver that was very pretty in contrast to the 63 fuelie.

I am attracted to this color combo, but I would not do it to my 66.

Here's a 65 Ermine White with burgundy interiors.

A Tuxedo Black and Bright Blue 65:

A 67 Black/Saddle:

66 Silver on Silver:

I always thought that black with silver interiors was a very classy combo and you don't see a whole lot of those around. I can't find a decent photo, though.

Dark blue with red is always a winner, IMO. A dealer in Fort Lauderdale was selling a silver vert with red guts recently that looked spectacular, too.

Silver and red is always a nice color combo.

And here is the 63 Daytona Blue /Red in vert form:

Silver with red is a favorite of mine too. Had a 96 CE with red interior. I liked the split personality nature of it. With tinted windows, top on, the car looked like a silver vette. take the top off and it really popped.
