Default Worked on the 'New' 64, some surprises

Overall the underneath is very nice with just a few surprises.

Someone added shims and a missing bolt.

There was only one clip holding the both u-joints in. A disaster waiting to happen!!

I will change the links, on this one the washer is too small.

This is the rear wheel cylinders. I will be doing a full brake overhaul.

I have never seen this before on a drum. Any ideas? Chisel marks to make the ID smaller?

Wow. that brake cylinder is scary looking. the ones on my old 64 weren't quite that bad, but the metal lines would still sprout leaks whenever a hold down clip was disturbed. not fun to change those lines, but ya gota do it.
BTW. I got all my cylinders from Rock Auto. about 1/2 the price of the same wagner cylinders at flaps

You might be missing the center exhaust hanger, thus the added washers.

Chisel marks on the drum were probably made in an attempt to get the drum off the axle after they rusted together.

I own an auto parts store and everything is available from my local suppliers.

What does 'Flaps' mean?

I went back under the car and it does have the exhaust hanger
but it is between the trans and the mount.
