Just pour some down the vent tube.

Every Spring after the Vette take its Winter nap, I shoot some fuel in the 2818 using a syringe before firing it up.

I like to use a plastic squeeze bottle with a pointed tip. The tip will fit the vent tube and not make a mess. You can buy them at Walmart or a dollar store and reuse them.

Good alternative method to consider if I loose my 50cc syringe. What method do you use to transfer fuel to the bottle?

Right so why fool with an electric fuel pump or any of those other gizmos?

Just get in behind the wheel and crank it over about five seconds then pat the gas a couple times and you're on your way.

You guys that keep poppin' the hood to put gas in the carb will be on here sooner than later yelling that your hood cable broke (because you keep popping the hood) and you can't get the hood open! Help me! Help me!

Or, we'll hear a horror story about a backfire thru the carb and a toasted car...now, I can't get that picture out of my mind

I think that you would want the motor to crank over a little while to build up the oil pressure on a new motor before it had gas in the carb. that might wash the cylinder walls if it didn't start.

On assembly I would have used my pre oiler tool to spin up the oil to the engine, then gave it a number of cranks with the coil wire pulled!

Believe it or not... I use my pre-mix gas for my weed whacker. It's 50:1 mix gives a little upper cylinder and valve lubrication for a dry start up. Just splash a little in the primary throttle blade area, climb in the car, and crank. Once or twice is all it takes and the mechanical pump should have the carb primed at that point.

I prelube with special dist shaft I made and then put in dist, just like it to fire right away.
