The Pertronix III is in all my classics...it also has an internal rev limiter - which I learned to appreciate when my throttle linkage hung up in full open position against the ignition shielding on the '61 one day... Its a 15 minute swap in.

Mine sits on the back of the passenger wheel well behind the battery. You can't really see it, but you do see the mounting bolts (painted black) up in the wheel well if you look for them.

A set of standard duty points works pretty well for a rev limiter too.

I installed my first PerTronix 22yrs ago in the 56 with FI-----------------------it is still lighting fires.
Since then, I have installed about 50 in my cars, friends cars and in customers' cars. So far, ZERO problems.
Back then, PerTronix DID NOT have a coil, and they recommended using a heavy oil filled coil, so I used the MSD Blaster II. Later on, PerTronix introduced their Flamethrower coil, so I switched to the Flamethrower. The early Flamethrower coils were great, but after a few years, the PerTronix Flamethrower coils were defective. The top of their coils were splitting open and oil was puking out. So, I went back to the MSD Blaster II coils.

Burning Brakes
I have used petronix on my road race car. Just did winter maintenance check and two of the magnets fell out. Time to switch to a different design, I'll stay with electronic but need better trigger mechanism.

...a very nice Sun 600. I had it completely updated with solid state components...
...eliminating all tubes, the vacuum pump was rebuilt etc.
Power supplies were installed to eliminate the odd, Sun proprietary 5.3 V batteries that use to power the VU meters. Now I can just plug it in to a wall outlet and I'm good to go. As Plasticman said "The Sun Machine tells the story. These old distributors do wear out.....

I used to burn through points and then switched to Lectric Limited Breakerless about 8 years ago and it's run smooth (63 327/340) ever since. Easy to install and a single wire hook up so with the cap on it looks stock. Great stealth ugrade IMO.

Was pretty content with my points, but what the heck....

Your shop is an embarassment! It's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to neat, clean and organized. I had our house built with a 6car garage, which was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more room than I needed! Now I'm getting ready to build another 6car garage next to the house (and bricked to match the house). SURELY that will be enough room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
