Default 1962 corvette 700r4

Hi anyone out there who has done a 700r4 conversion on a 1962 corvette? will it fit without mods to the floor? and what is needed besides trans, converter and shorten driveshaft? thanks

You need a small modification to the floor on the right side, you need a trans cooler, a TV cable, a shifter, a shorter drive shaft with a 26 tooth spline to fit the transmission, I bought a whole new driveshaft with spline and new u joints, balanced for $200, You might need speedometer gears, also a new flex plate to fit a new starter that bolts to the bottom on the engine, you need a neutral safety switch

Thanks for the info can you tell me about the floor mod? I know the trans is wider than a 4 speed or powerglide. Thanks Lee J

you need to cut a small relief for the modulator where the trans cover meets the floor on the right side near the front , it is about 3" x 3", cut the floor board and cover with new fiberglass, you should also buy a 700r4 from a Camaro because the rear case has the mounts for a shifter, I used the stock shifter, the early transmissions 81-88 have no electronics to hookup, the 59 and 60 cars do not need a floor cutout, they have a larger trans cover

Bowtie Overdrives has everything you need.

They even have some shifter conversion that looks like a stock PG shifter.
