That's all I wore from about 2005 until 2010 <LOL>. But never wore them in HS and don't remember anyone wearing them but I was in the Northern VA area. I think they came later with the Beach Boys and they may have caught on in California before they caught on in the rest of the country.

Was the cutting edge 8-track technology out in the 60's. I don't remember them until the early 70's but maybe I just couldn't afford one in the 60's.

I did have an 8-track in my 1969 Ford Torino GT fastback which I bought used in 1971 but it was an aftermarket I added on.

Chicks with long, straight soft hair parted down the middle or with bangs, wearing mini-skirts or hot pants. Those were the days!

I think that psychedelic-type dress might place her in the 70's.

8 track tapes were late '60's, 4 track a little before.

I know for a fact that 8 tracks could be ordered for a '68 Camaro cause I had one.

Up in the attic somewhere I have a 4/8 track player, Muntz brand I think. Installed it in our '65 Impala.

Obviously, I was wrong about when the 8 tracks appeared on the scene (and I don't remember 4 tracks at all). That senility thing is raising its ugly head again.

I do remember the only 8 track machine I ever owned was stolen out of my Torino GT my first night after moving to Miami.

You guys have forgotten one popular gimmick. The rear seat speaker and reverberator that came along about 1965.

Nobody listened to FM back then either around here because all the good music was played on AM. You could hear it pretty well on AM in spite of all the static!

I had a factory reverb in my 65 Olds 442. It was pretty cool. Yeah, nobody listened to FM, it only had elevator music.

I got a kick out of the "BOOM" you got from the reverb if you hit a big bump at speed.

The best music was on FM - the 'underground' stations that hit in the late '60s. (In the Philly area it was WMMR that started playing that format in spring of '68, albeit for only 2 hours a night in the beginning.)

Yes Sir. WEAM in the Washington DC area was where the music was and where the DJ's were #1 .

Still have my 4 track upstairs too. What a fine state of the art piece of equipment. Note "Baja Marimba Band" tape loaded and ready to swoon the ladies.

Big bell bottoms, Beatle boots, wide leather belts with round buckles. Military wear. Pea coats and coats with fur collars. Sandals (without socks!) Long hair, naturally. Very late sixties came the bell shirt sleeves that the "mods" like The Who wore.
