C2 Performance Tires
Ok, took the car out today and ran it. Was not happy with the tires(Michelin X). What tires help w/performance. The Michelins wanted to dart around. Looking for a good handling tire. Recommendations??
Thx. Jim

Lots of good tires.. I'd look for three things... Highest speed rating (=responsive sidewalls, good turn in), highest traction rating (obvious) and worst wear rating (even higher high traction).

Michelin X Radials are not “bad” tires. They may not be the highest rated performance tire on the market, but they are one of the better tires that come in compatible C2 sizes. Your symptoms sound like alignment or suspension component issues.
I would recommend getting a good four-wheel alignment before you throw the tires out. For street driving with radial tires, try the following alignment specs:
Front Camber: 0*
Front Caster: 2.0*-2.5* positive (with power steering), 1.5* with manual (2.5* will work but low speed steering effort will increase substantially)
Front Toe: 0 to 1/16" total toe-in
Rear Camber: 0 to 1/2* negative
Rear Toe: 1/16" total toe-in (1/32" per side, split equally across the thrust centerline)

If only a few dry miles per year (less than 2000) then I would recommend Hoosier Street TD "S" tires. Yes, they are an R-Comp tire, NOT recommended for street use. I would still recommend them for your stated needs.

What is your usage? How many miles per year, and do you drive it in rain, or only dry?
