What oil to use in new 327
Got about 800 miles on my complete rebuild engine. Changed it twice
already, I would think the rings are seated ,For break in I ran 10w40
with zinc additive .Cant remember what the builder said .I think he said straight 30 weight .should I still get the zinc stuff . Also was thinking of Lucas additive to keep oil on all engine parts for starting .
New engine fresh start wanted to do it right.

You don't want synthetic for break in - any CJ-4 rated oil will work. I use Mobil-1 15W-50W with the right amounts of zinc (I have a source to get a price break on the stuff). NO other additive is necessary and just wasting money. Many old school mechanics think synthetic oil will cause leaks - its BS.
