Default C1 Battery Tray

The original metal battery tray in my '59 is shot, badly corroded, but it is tied well to the frame on both ends. I need to replace it sometime in the future but, right now, I just want to bolt a good sturdy, polystyrene?, battery tray to the existing tray. I've done a search but cannot tell how thick or what type of plastic they are. I don't want a thin plastic tray that may bend & easily break.
Can someone suggest such a tray that will fit series 24, brand name, etc.?

Thanks

Look at the battery boxes sold for boats in marine stores. Maybe something there could work for you.

Some here have relocated their battery to the trunk.
I think wmf62 (Bill) on here has done it on his '62.
Not sure putting a plastic receptacle over a rotten tray is gonna be your best bet...

I've seen those online, but, there again, cannot tell how thick or durable they are.

Why? The existing tray is secure enough to the frame. I just want to stop further corrosion to it until I can give it some attention.

when I pulled my battery I just sanded it down and wire brushed it.
Then cleaned it with prep solvent.

The hit it with some anti rust primer.
Then hit it with the SEM Black trim plate.
Looks great

It was just an option to consider. I have no way of knowing how sturdy what is left of your "...shot, badly corroded" tray might be....

I assumed worst case...

Wish I had moved my battery to the trunk before the Vintage Air install. I will most probably have to remove the AC hoses for a battery install. The tall valve covers don't help out the situation. Monte Hagerman moved his battery to the 61 trunk similar to bad Bill's setup, very nice install. The 61 up have a lot more room/height back there.

Welding next to the fuel line to install a new battery mount doesn't help out as well

walmart and most auto parts stores have marine battery boxes, go look and measure; but marine batteries may be larger than the corvette battery and the box may be larger. you can always cut the excess height off if the bottom fits.

but if the frame edges are good, just cut a piece of heavy sheetmetal to sit in and support the battery, the battery will keep it in place.

Yea, that's an idea!
