a couple of questions - shifter, tunnel insulation
I plan on install transmission tunnel insulation on my 65. It's all gone, but 3 out of 4 clips are there.
1. If I buy a clip can it be installed from below. Or do the 2 rivets get inserted from above? I am familiar wit pop rivets, but how do these work. Can I just jb weld the clip into place instead?
2. I assume that I can drop the shifter with out removing the console above. correct?
3. What are the bolt lengths that hold the shifter on to the 4 speed muncie in a 65? The top is long and bottom is short. My experience is that they are a bear to install.
4. Can I install the tunnel insulation with shifter out but trans in?
5. Besides the 4 clips (3 are still there) what kind of glue do you use?
appreciate the responses

2. I assume that I can drop the shifter with out removing the console above. correct? NO needs to be removed...
3. What are the bolt lengths that hold the shifter on to the 4 speed muncie in a 65? The top is long and bottom is short. My experience is that they are a bear to install....They are tough but can be done...the upper is the hardest, especially with the insulation in place...
4. Can I install the tunnel insulation with shifter out but trans in?...NO
5. Besides the 4 clips (3 are still there) what kind of glue do you use?
I didn't glue mine in...just make sure its tight...others I've heard use some glue plus clip..
appreciate the responses

I was hoping that I could push the insulation in with the trans in place. Obviously it's not worth pulling the trans to do this.
Has anyone successfully done it with the trans in place?

I just did mine in my 65. I took the shifter out without doing anything to the console - just removed the ball, etc. I cant see how you'd do the insulation without removing the trans, as you'd slice the insulation to pieces on the clips when trying to squeeze it around the trans.

I cut the insulation in half and installed it with the trans in.
