Default Determining BB car

67 roadster with a small block in it now. I took some pics, I think it should be a BB. Has rear torsion bar, large half shafts, etc. What do you think?

Your ques are right so far. The rear axle code would be AT, AU,AZ, FA, FB or FC. Hard fuel line on right front frame rail where it turns towards fuel pump would be 90 degree and not 45. Accelerator lever off firewall would be a C shape rather than an S shape are a few other quick things to check.

Would like to see a picture of the pass side front engine area at frame rail where fuel pipe joins rubber fuel line to pump, compare to this picture, right angle line or not (and has body been off frame?)

How does the rear end housing casting date match up with the car?

Looks like a small block redline to me.

Enlarging that interior pic shows a 5500 red line, and that was only found in '67 327/300 cars according to 67 JG. The 350 horse was a 6000 red line as were the hydraulic lifter 427s. Interestingly the 390HP in '66 had a 5500 red line. But for '67, that's a small block tach

I believe that is a '66, not a '67. Dave might have had a typo. Those are 66 seats, dash ***** and the fatter headrests (than 67 versions). Also, 67 door panels would have had the lock mechanism further forward. Also, I don't think that 67's still had that cutout 'grab-bar' section in the passenger side dash panel. So, in the end, the tach could be for a 390 horse 66 Bigblock.
The mystery continues.

The pictures show this car to be a '66. So the tack works for a 390hp car as well as the sway bar and half shafts.

Also looks like well optioned with PW,Tele, head rests and knockoffs!!

Couple more pics. Tach has a 5500 redline, oil gauge is 80 psi. Body is believed to not been removed. Looks like the fuel line has been re-bent.

No hand brake on the center console which a 67 would have and seat belt holders not 67 style. Two other indicators it is not a 67.

Yes car has 65-66 tele column definitely not a 67 setup as I re-look at photo! Saw that stinger hood and the '67 question and stopped looking!
Clearly not a 67 hence the diff, sway bar and fuel line (which does to me appear to be a big block line that has been bent) consistent with a big block car, and that tach would mean a 390 car. Time to start searching ebay, orphan parts listings looking for that engine block! I just KNOW its close by

Crap! I fat fingered the year. I am so sorry guys, it is indeed a 66 and not a 67. It has a 67 stinger hood. You guys are on the ball. So do you think it could have still been a BB car, 390 horse?

Very well could be! Look under the dash, backside of the cluster, see if the paper decal is still stuck there, see what the two letter code is! Lots of BB clues on this car. Do a search using the car's VIN to see if there are any hits for a 942 block what that derivative stamp eh

The sway bar link is mounted backwards It should 'curve' toward the front of the car.

Really? It would be slanted pretty far back if so.

Well my L72 has an LB code, I believe the 427/390 would be LD, it is a rare combo having low red line but high 80 pound oil gauge. Found the LD answer at ncrs.org

The fuel line to the carb picture kind of looks like a SB line but it's also been mangled up some and possibly bent. Most clues look like it could be a BB car.

No a/c on this car so let's look at the battery location. Is it accessed through an opening in the left fenderwell ?
