I agree with Velox, the ark of the bend does indeed appear similar and consistent with a BB fuel line. The view of your picture is a bit angled though and would be better if the picture was taken straight down like the picture Velox posted.
As far as the non conforming bends and crimps go; well this could be a number of things ranging from poor workmanship/damage to someone bypassing the mechanical pump at one time via an electric pump mounted at the fuel tank? It is not totally uncommon to see the steel fuel line actually cut way before it turns towards the fuel pump just before the center of the motor mount for the purpose of mounting a pressure regulator somewhere on the firewall needed for race electric type fuel pumps. This would be more likely to occur on the L72's and L71's as a rule but could be on the higher rated hydraulic cam motors as well for drag race applications ---- a tell tale would be some small unaccounted holes on the RH side of the inner firewater.
Bottom line is the car could very well be an L36 BB IMO.

Hard to tell from your pic but it does look like a BB accelerator lever.

I assume the front fender has the "427 TurboJet" emblems. If so check on the inside of the fender. The mounting holes are in different locations for the small block crossed flags. Check to see if there has been any filling or filing on the inside of the fenders.

Just got home from the owners home. Took some more pics and interestingly the starter is a completely different setup than any small block I have seen. There is no original vin for this car, it has a Pennsylvania vin tag on the firewall. I'm thinking it's a 427/390 horse hydraulic lifter originally. There is a small block in it now. What do you think?

Without the original trim tag and vin tag what does it really mater what it was. I would not touch that car unless you can get it for under 30k

Well that's the correct label for '66 427/390 car! It's mainly just "interesting history" for this car since we now know there is no original VIN tag present. The various hints all line up - fuel line, rear sway bar, cluster tag, differential etc. But with state issued VIN and a small block in it, well...

427 engines have a copper/brass radiator....if aluminum, its a sb Motor.....don't need to look any further.....
But aren`t they ALL BB engines......:

Was the sway bar straight across between the frame rails

Just a follow-up, the AIM illustration is correct, the rear sway bar link installs as shown. The picture of the link of the 66 car shown in this thread is wrong, the sway bar link is installed backwards.

I agree with you. Probably got removed and replaced incorrectly sometime in the last 48 years.
