Putting in a new windshield in a C1 was the hardest thing for me. I was always afraid it was going to break.

If its the C1 then I'll stay with the dash pad - it requires a gamut of skills, dexterity and knowledge. You have to use brute force to lift the windshield off the car and delicate two-fingered finesse to get the tachometer/speedometer cables on the gauges. You have to know something about mechanical workings of the car, body expertise, and, electrical skills. It takes subtle trimming of the pad itself to avoid ruining it and gentle handling of the delicate package tray insert to avoid turning it into useless dented metal.

Pretty much like combat -- long periods of boredom interspersed with a few seconds of sheer terror...

Removing a 1960 seat when it's frozen in the rearmost position! You can't get to the rear bolts.

Outer seat belt reinforcement corners (fuel line, brake line also) on a mid year with the body in place.

58-62 defroster vents/wiper transmission drivers side as part of windshield replacement.

You can fly model airplanes under the 53-57 dashes......what a difference!

Default Hardest to replace

I'll go for the rear windshield hold down nuts on a 53 - 57. I saw one where someone drilled a hole in the fiberglass to get to them......

Drivers side wiper transmission on a later C1. Can't comment on 57 and earlier.

I would agree that the windshield is a PITA, but that is a major component, , not a a piddly little part.

Amen to that. I spent the better part of who-knows-how-many hours doing exactly that on my '54.

On a C2 I would say the bird cage would be the biggest pain.

On a C2 the outer factory air conditioning box that is placed in the engine compartment is not easy to find and if you do they for sure cost enough....

Here is a picture of the outer AC box

The speaker on a 67 with factory a/c. I don't think I've ever been so aggravated trying to do something on a car.

Getting the rear c2 deck lid spring off of my thumb!!!!!!!!!!!! Last summer I was replacing the springs while using one of the spring install tools that the vendors sell. While trying to install the spring it slipped off of the holder and clamped on to my thumb and forefinger.
OUCHHHHHH
