I Like sting rays new and old. Here is my Z51 7speed with the exhaust option. This new corvette is more than there is space to tell you about. Just go drive one and it will convince you how far they have come. Don't believe a thing about no attention. I can't go anywhere without someone asking questions and taking pictures. This car is a grand slam for GM. Look @ the rear styling next to the 67 coupe. All the vents on this car are functional like the 67.

I like the look of the the C7 BUT wait a few years, then see which one STILL gets the attention.

How much attention do you need? I still get compliments on my C6. Granted, nothing like the 63, but is that why you bought the car?

Put 30,000 miles a year on each and see which you llike after a couple years of that.

They're both corvettes but are apples and oranges.

Yes, I need lots of attention, I have a BIG ego.
I bought my car for the same reason as most here. I've always wanted one since I was a kid. My point was that IMO the C1 & C2 corvettes are, and will always be, an American icon that's all. While the newer cars are quite nice and I would not mind having one myself they will never be viewed in the same way.

If you're buying a Corvette to impress other people then you're buying it for all the wrong reasons.

I think I'm right in that Z51 is an option and mag ride is an option on top of that. I don't see that one can get mag ride without Z51.
From the GM site:

http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-st...ecs/trims.html

The Z51 Performance Package (available on 1LT, 2LT or 3LT), elevates Corvette Stingray to its top performance level. This package includes:

•larger 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels
•dry sump oil system
•Electronic Limited Slip Differential
•larger front brakes (13.6 inch vs. 12.6 inch) with black calipers
•specific shocks, springs and stabilizer bars
•differential and transmission cooling
•unique Aero Package that reduces lift for high-speed stability
•Michelin® Pilot® Super Sport® ZP summer-only tires (DISCLOSURE) that are aggressively tuned to provide outstanding handling, grip and road-holding capability
available Magnetic Selective Ride Control and Performance Traction Management•HD Cooling
•Slotted Brake Rotors
•Performance Gear Ratios

I'll stop I don't think we need to clutter up the C1-2 site with C7 details.

Back in '08 I considered selling my '67 to get into a new Z06. Space and money being an issue. Luckily I found a way to make it work without having to sell the '67.

Man I'm sure glad I still have the C2.

The 67 is for show and the C7 is for GO. The C7 is the need for speed not show. I don't drive the 67 fast. I really don't care if the C7 gets no looks @ all. You can still take either one to a cruise and have a lot of fun. But I had no idea how much interest this new Vette gets. That's just a bonus + maybe the younger generation will appreciate our hobby.

What ever I have, which includes my car, has to make an impression on ME. I don't give a damn about what kind of impression either I, or the things I have, make on someone else. Either someone likes them (or me) or they don't. I'm too old to care.

Looks like a new Camaro from the rear appears to use the same tail lights, square body lines.

I mean the C2's are quick and fun but on the highway not so much. Your C7 looks great and with a 7 speed? Wow, talk about ultimate highway flight

I hate to admit this but the C7's are C1 and C2 killers. After our generation is gone, there will still be a TINY group of people that want these cars, but the majority of people will want what they grew up with as long as it's relatively good looking, cool and fast. No denying that the C7's are fast and cool, some would argue the looks, but that as said, I'm sure it will grow on you over time. I know there have been a few years in the past where I didn't like the looks of the new models, but got to like them more as time went by. Time has done nothing to help the look of the C4's, but maybe that's just me.

We all picked out the coolest cars of the time when we were just getting into cars in general. The C1 and C2's might not have been brand new for some of us, but they were close enough to get our attention.

I like the looks of my '63 more than I do the 2013's, but I sure wish it could do anything as well as the C7's, or 5's or 6's. Now they get great gas milage can stop on a dime and can keep you dry in a rain storm, what's not to like.

I may be wrong, but wasn't that said of most 50s and 60s cars?

I disagree. Classics will always be classics as the lines look great even after 50-60 years. Additionally, these cars are easy to work on compared to the C4's on up.
Have you priced a glass top gas pump? An old Coke machine?

It's not just you. I would rather be seen driving a Ford Vista Cruiser station wagon than be seen riding in a C-4.

How many Model T's do you see driving around on cruise nights? I don't know how old you are, but I'm going by my son and his friends comments.

You are right about the 50-60 years and that's almost about how long a driving generation lasts. I have a '55 Chevy and a '63 Vette, so my kid and his friends are exposed to these cars. They all love my cars to go for a ride, but if you ask them what car they would buy if they could get one, the answer is a new Camaro or Mustang. They just can't see the same beauty that we see in these cars.

I'm not saying that non of them might be converted over time, but even my oldest would own something newer than either of my cars. I think that is telling because both of my cars are hot rods. They steer better and go faster than they did when original and have cooler paint jobs. That is usually the only way you will see Model T's at a cruise is when they have been modified.

Also, if you pay attention to what the kids are driving now, they don't have a clue how to work on our cars, but they can make those little 4 cylinder cars chew up our Vettes and embarrass us with ease. My neighbor had an MR2 that had over 400 hp and did the quarter mile in 12 seconds with his line lock on until the 60' mark. What we thought was fast is a joke when it comes to cars today.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and you have yours, let's see who's right in another 40-50 years.
