67 Seats Restoration aka "Lazarus come forth"
Cause I need to bring these seats back from the dead!
I am stuck in the tar baby I call my 1967 Corvette. My winter project was to clean up the engine bay, put a new wiring harness in and eventually get to the seats, as mine are supposed to have the seat latch mechanism and don't.
Well, one thing lead to another and I pulled the driver seat out today.
Not looking good... at least to me.
There was a recent thread here regarding another C2 model year seat track etc, and somebody chimed in and added pictures of their semi recent 67 seat resto... for the life of me, I can't find the post. I think the 67 seat restorer may have had a yellow convertible...
Anyway.
Seat Frames can be expensive... and I am not flush with cash so I am looking for ideas on how to salvage this one... if its possible.
That beer was full before I took the cover off... ewwwww...
Am I chasing my tail here... ?
Where does one start?
Some of the other threads I have checked out to help with my seat project are
Getting the 67 seats together
Seat mounting bolts.
1966-seat-track-servicing
Some seat and seat belt install removal info 1965

...but Mike67nv, the fellow who posted those '67 seat pictures you're looking for on that thread has deleted all his seat pictures for some reason from that post. Maybe you can send him a PM. Good luck.

Your project may take a lot longer while you look for frames. They are a testament to the fact that all Corvettes leak. Dennis

Thanks for the info
Thomas...
I thought I was going crazy as I knew I saved a link to the thread. I sent him a PM, and hope he chimes in on this one!
The more i tear into my car, the more I am feeling like its an assembly of parts with a nice paint job....
but still... its mine!

For any of you reading this and who own a convertible you just might want to take a peek under your seats to see if they've ever been refurbished. If not, with winter approaching this might be a good time to bite the bullet and pull them out and give them some needed attention. Just a thought.

Embrace what lays before you.
Been there, done that....in the extreme.

Hey Guys!
Another day, another bloody knuckle....
I got my seats out, and have taken my tracks apart. Something doesn't seem right. And I am guessing its a bubba thing.
The seat track bracket that i have is flat/flush with the bottom
Whereas, the others seem "stepped"...
Are mine ultra rare prototypes for an L88 worth a tremendous amount of money.....
or just bubba'd?

I would say someone was trying to lower the seat height. Or, maybe a bubba fix.
I would take the frames to a good fabricator/welder. They can do wonders. With the price of 67 frames you will be money ahead. jmo

Anyone know of a fabricator/Welder?
I need to send them off (back to the states) as I am stationed in Germany, and wouldn't know how to go about finding the right person.
