The block is correct for a 67 bb. Your vin number that you listed would be stamped on the passenger side of the block just below the head with build date and suffix. The vin on the engine pad would look like 7106615

That block and heads are fine, assuming the casting dates (and engine assembly date) make sense with the rest of the car.

Post some pics of the stamping so we can check the braoch marks, build date and suffix to see if it is 435 car. Do you know if the tank sticker is still on the tank?

December 23 is the correct assembly date for that VIN, and the trim tag (below the glove box door) should have "E21" or "E22" embossed at the upper left, after the word "Style". On the right side of the trim tag, what's embossed ahead of the word "BODY"?

What makes you think it was a big block car from the factory? Do you have the build sheet from the gas tank? I would bet 50% of the 67 big blocks are clones. The dates on the heads are under the valve covers and the date on the block is under the block near the pass motor mount.

You car is a Nov or Dec built car. According to your number 106615 it falls in between Nov #s 104981 thu Dec #s 107110.

What is the cast date of the block? Because the vin derivative is not on the pad, and whatever was there is gone, the source is unknown. It could be the original, or not. You'll never know.

There is a 3 or 4 character code on the right side of the block above and forward of where the starter is mounted. It is upside down when installed. If it precedes the build date of the car then it's a good candidate. If it's after the car build date then it is not a good candidate.

e.g.
J306 - Oct30, 1966
L246 - Dec 24, 1966
B117 Feb 11, 1967
