1963 Corvette Front Axel Weight
I'm looking for the front axel weight on a 1963 etc Corvette w a 327.
I found the total curb weight is 3150 and the same for the coupe and the convertible.
Thx John

Weight distribution front/rear is 49/51 on a coupe and 48/52 on a convertible, so the front weight is 1543# on a coupe and 1512# on a convertible; '67 small-block Engineering data, same as '63.

I presently have the stock 1982 coil spring at 460# (it takes 460# to drop the spring 1")
No wonder it rides hard. That's 250 pounds lighter on the front suspension.
I'm looking for the pound rating of the OEM 1963 Corvette convertible front coil spring so I can place the order for the matching spring.
Can anyone tell me where to find this info?
Thx, John

1963 linear-rate front springs were one-year-only. The 1964-'67 small-block front springs (#3851100) were progressively-wound variable-rate, from 195 to 295 pounds per inch, and were 9.98" high at 1340# load; they were .600" dia. wire, and 3.80" inside diameter, and 16.82" free height.

Here's the '63-only linear-rate spring on the left (note constant coil spacing), and the '64-up #3851100 variable-rate progressively-wound spring on the right (note closely-spaced coils at one end, changing to widely-spaced coils at the other end).
