Default 66 C2 Barn find - what type of grease is used for the headlight motors?

I found a great article that was written about rebuilding C2 headlight motors and it's absolutely perfect, makes life easy to have the information step, by step. The author's email was alann@primalwear.com and when I sent the email, it came back undeliverable.

Does anyone know what type of grease to use for the headlight motor rebuild? I went to a few auto parts stores and they said to use axle or lithium grease which doesn't make sense, it's thin and I would think seepage would be a problem. The grease in the pictures is a blue color which appears to be thick in consistency.

Good white lithium grease or Lubriplate "A".

I make it a practice to never disagree with JohnZ . So I agree, but, Mercruiser sells a Spline Grease that is light consistency,never hardens and is very clingy. JMHO, Al W.

JohnZ is in the Corvette Hall of Fame if that tells you anything.

If John ever quits posting here then all the other forum members move up one notch.

Here's the link where I found the instructions to rebuild the headlights;

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...-assembly.html

You'll see in the pictures the blue grease I was talking about. I spoke with ah friend of mine who suggested that this may be what it is.

I'm a Buick Gran Sport guy who likes the Corvette too.. I'm not all that new here, rebuilt a yellow C3 over the past few years and this forum has been very helpful. I just never heard of John Z.
