And there was another Knudsen who was a significant GM employee. Unfortunately, some typical dumbazz NCRS pissed him off at the 1981 NCRS Nationals in St. Louis, which did some permanent damage to the hobby that will probably never be repaired. The damage is that he literally had day-by-day VIN production of early (50s) Corvettes and that documention was put away-------------NEVER to be revealed again (to date so far). That was Jack Knudsen (now deceased). I was VERY, VERY fortunate to obtain the exact production date of my 56 from Jack before the NCRS person pissed him off.
I will never forget, nor forgive the person who pissed off Jack Knudsen back in 1981. Even though I have always maintained my NCRS membership, that is just one of several reasons why I still have a certain amount of animosity for that organization, and to some small degree, similar jabs here uncalled for and unappreciated.
Ya, I know who Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen was, but I also know who Jack Knudsen was. And so when "Knudsen's wife" was mentioned, I didn't know who was being referred to.
Yes, a time of enough is enough has occured. So now it's my turn to jab back at the CF members.

There is also another Knudsen that was a Corvette enthusiast. Bunkies son attended Michigan Tech and in 1967 we were both seniors and had Corvettes. His was a 67 maroon coupe, big block, with a black stinger. Mine was a 67 convertible silver, big block, with a blue stinger.
I believe Dave Hall ( Chief Engineer Corvette ) was there at the same time as a hockey player.
Now you know the end of the story.

No luck in getting the Knudsen family to release / share that information. Last time I talked to Jack's wife, the notebooks were in the possession of the children, and they were busy with their own children.
I got the impression that the family may think there is value (monetary) in that information, and want to publish it themselves.

Pearl pink wasn't Florence Knudsen's only favorite color - her everyday favorite color was Kelly Green; when I was at Willow Run in '64-'65, Bunkie sent in new full-size Impalas on several occasions to be repainted that specific Kelly Green for her, finished as "show jobs". It's nice to be king.

That grill is a "one off" unit specifically for her/that car. Note the oversize openings and how tight it fits the corners. . Dennis

I saw this exact car on a trailer in the swap meet area at Bloomington Gold in 1992. As a young man that spoke without knowledge, I made the comment while standing next to the car, "Who would butcher that poor midyear like that!" The gentleman at the swap meet space overheard me and responded, "Don't speak about what you don't know, this pink 1964 is all original and just sold for $100,000" Now when I attend shows, I tend to keep my thoughts in my head!
