Default What engine do I have?

When I purchased my C1 four months ago, I was told the engine was a '69 Camaro 350, 300hp. I looked up the casting numbers but it doesn't seem definitive enough. Can someone tell me what I have?

Engine casting is 3932386, s/n V0827HU, heads 3932441, intake 3927184. Carb is a Rochester Quadrajet.

Thanks

engine is a 69 350/255hp w/ PowerGlide out of a full size car. Heads are 75CC low compression.

Thanks, 1snake. Are the heads the only thing holding me back from 300hp? What heads do I need?

Actually, you have everything you need. That particular '69 block had 4 bolt mains. The heads were used with both 327 and 350 blocks and the intake manifold was used for all three HP configurations...250, 300, 350 in '69. Just mate the appropriate cfm carb, possibly the 4MV Rochester 7029202 DH, if you're looking for originality

That casting number block was made in both 2 & 4 bolt configuration, the 255 hp will have a cast crank, not that it matters building a 300 hp engine.

Never mind, I found the marking. It is a 7029202 dh. So, guess the PO was correct, it is a 300hp!

Thanks everyone for clearing that up.

How about the cam? Compression ratio? Valve diameter?

A carb swap won't do much.

It's still a 255 hp motor. The heads make the differance. The 300 hp would have heads with smaller combustion chambers around 62.8 cc's if I remember correctly.

Jim

PS- The 255 engine is a good combination because of the lower compression.

The stock valve diameters were 1.95/1.50 @76cc. Don't know what cam or compression ratio. I assumed from reading the original post the OP already had the makings of a 300hp...just needed to verify everything such as the Rochester carb described as it was used with the 300hp in '69 for that configuration. Just trying to be helpful without bustin' the guys chops!
