After installing both doors I moved to the rear of the car to start preparing for the quarter panels. It was a lot easier to sand the paint and grind the edges with the car off the ground.

Events with nothing but factory stock cars are boring to me. Your 409 C2 will attract TONS of admiring spectator attention.
Gives me hope that the 500 Cad going into my roadster might be acceptable. I think our "stepchild" '64s are allowed the most leeway for creativity, our engines would probably be sacrilege in '67s!

500 cubic inch caddy motor sounds cool. Get a big shoe horn and go for it! It would be cool to paint it like the factory would have and make it look stock just to mess with everyone.

I've seen one in a '69 Camaro, there was still room. And they're considerably lighter than a BB Chevy, around 70 pounds less. I already have BB springs in my originally SB C2.

I have finally got back to work on the money/labor pit. I finished the cross linkage mounts and installed the Hilborn injection. I rolled the engine into our booth and epoxy primed and sprayed polyurethane green the color that I'm using on the car. Now it's on to installing the pulleys fuel/coolant lines and ignition system to start the motor before we run on the dyno.

Measurements I've seen indicate the Cad is the same width as a BB Chevy, and about a half-inch shorter front to back. Depending on where the motor mounts are, it may be possible to get away without the usual front crossmember surgery.

The 500 inch Cad motor should fit with the standard BB notch in the cross member. My 409 would have fit just fine but the lower Billet Specialties pulley is real deep to allow the ac compressor to be mounted in front of the head.

That's a sweet looking 409!
I think the only thing I might have done a little different is to have painted the heads with the block?
IMHO would highlight the Hilborn setup and the valve covers even more, but maybe it's just me...
Don't forget to keep posting on the build.

Fawndeuce My friend Todd said the same thing and what I told him was I have wanted to own a set of aluminum heads since I was in high school (class of 87')and I couldn't bring myself to paint them. You are right it would have set off the hilborn better.

I got a lot done today. Installed the Billet Specialties pulleys, finished machining the throttle linkage, made up the plug wires, machined the starter adapter and installed the fuel pump block off plate. Coolant lines, fuel lines and wiring then maybe soon we will smell smoke. I am ready to hear this run! It has been only three years saving money to get to this point. Its getting fun! :
