Default 66 Corvette Torq Thrust D's

Looking at putting some torq thrust wheels on my 66 stingray coupe, what kind of wheel/tire size are you guys running. What type of lug nuts are used with torq thrust D wheels?

I'm running the Torq thrust II wheels. I could be wrong, but I'm not sure D's will fit disc brake cars. Maybe someone else will chime in.
Size is 6"X15. Don't remember what lug nuts, bought them from Jegs when I ordered the wheels. If I was to do it over again I think I'd go with 16" wheels instead. More tire options and I actually think they look better after seeing them on more cars.
There's lots of info on wheels in the archives so you may want to check there also.

I had TTD's on my 66 (15" x 6"), and bought the complete set new for $99. Of course that was in 1970.......

I have also have 15" x 6" TTD's on my 62, but those 1999 purchased wheels will not fit the C2 with disc brakes. I added the spinners.........

Have "heard" that newer production TTD's will fit the disc brake C2s, but I will leave that to someone with more current knowledge.

These are Rocket brand. 15x6. Tires are 215- 65- 15. They clear the calipers with no spacers.

REAL Torque Thrust D's, whether they be magnesium or aluminum, fit 65-67 Corvettes (with factory stock brakes) perfectly, with NO clearance issues, without using spacers...............................be cause American Racing designed them specifically FOR 65-67 Corvette disc brakes.

Original 15 x 6 magnesium TT D on my 67

Original 15 x 6 aluminum TTD

All Torque Thrust D's are NOT created equal. The current reproduction is a very nice wheel, but when placed next to an original TT D wheel from the 60's / 70's, the difference is obvious, even to the untrained eye.

Vintage Wheel makes a nice and very close reproduction of the Torque D.

Yes they do indeed make a very nice wheel. It just depends on the look you want. That's what makes our hobby and our cars so neat, individualism.

I'm actually looking full chrome Torque Thrust Ds for my '65 in the size 15x8 with a 4.00 backspace - this is the size of the C3 wheels I have on it now and have no issues what-so-ever. any reccomendations?

That's been my experience - you're OK with 15x7 with every generation of TTDs, but for 15x6 you need to do your homework.

Original TTDs had quite a back cut on the spokes for clearance, and 15x6s fit fine. Later, ARE "reintroduced" the Ds and that relief cut was omitted. Needed spacers for 15x6, as I found out the hard way.

Why the heck ARE doesn't just go back to the original profile, I couldn't tell you. Some DOT issue maybe.

Those are very nice, at times I wished I had bought them but I am very satisfied now with the bolt on KO's. A lot of nice corvettes here, enjoy the 4th guys.

Trailing arms are offset. Tires are 225/45/17 front 245/45/17 rear.

Have several sets of wheels for my car. One is a vintage set of US mags and the other is a set of polished Americans with BF Goodrich TAs. I always prefer 15 inch wheels.
