Default Need advice on Vacuum Advance hose on Holley 2818

I need help with a Holley 2818 I just bolted to my 64 Vette 327 / 365 HP.

I don't know where to attach the Vacuum Advance hose. I think it should go to the front side Metering Block? - But that hole has been plugged up.

Also, I don't know what the other holes are for??

Thanks - John

Passenger side - you have the wrong primary metering block - the hole you show as "plugged" is the port for full manifold vacuum for the distributor vacuum advance. The other lower hole is the inlet for hot air through the tube from the top of the exhaust manifold to the automatic choke thermostat.

On the driver's side, the hole in the center of the main body is threaded for a restrictor fitting that accepts a 3/8" PCV hose to the bung welded to the oil fill tube. Without that restrictor fitting, it will be a HUGE vacuum leak.

All of this is shown in your Assembly Manual, section L76, sheet 3.00 and 4.00.

Photos below show the correct installation - it's a '65, but it's the same as '64..

JohnZ,

Thanks VERY MUCH for the photos!

They show me what I must do now.

Another Question: I have the old Holley 1850 Carb (It does have the correct port), can I take that metering block off and stick it on my newly installed Holley 2818 - Would that work??

Thanks - John

That hole on the side. I have a 66 327/300 A.I.R. 3605 carb with it and one without it. It’s also on my 66 427/390 car. None of mine have the fitting in it the hole is not open. So my question is which of the 3605 carbs are Correct bad as this on all corvette Holley carbs but not used on various engines like mine?

No 1966 Holley 3605's had that tapped hole in the left side of the main body for the PCV hose fitting - 1965 was the last year for that PCV design feature.

So, I have one 3605 carb dated for a late production 1966 327/300 A.I.R. car with that hole and two 3370 carbs dated for a early production 1966 427/390 car with that hole. Are these carbs original for these NCRS cars or will they not work on these NCRS cars. Did these carbs possibly come out on these cars?

What are the stamped date codes on the air horns (below the LIST numbers) on those three carburetors? They definitely don't need those holes, and shouldn't have them.

Dunno. I'd call Phil Cancilla (Custom Rebuilt Carburetors) or Eric Jackson (Vintage Musclecar Parts) - Google them for contact info - those are the two most knowledgeable Holley guys on the planet.

you would have to examine the metering block carefully to see if they are the same.

I got the carbs from Phil. I’ll holler at him.
