I finally had a chance to catch up on this thread...Wow! The car looks amazing! You did an incredible job putting this together! Black was definitely the way to go! The wheels look fantastic on the car too.... I think the 18" rims look great on a C2. Did you use 35 or 40 series tires? The car also sounds incredible. Are those resonators located in front of the x pipe? Why did you use them or are they unique to the Borla system? I'm using the same LS3 Motor for my build and haven't made it as far as choosing an exhaust system yet and was curious about yours. What is your impression of the ride & handling on this chassis vs the "others" you have used on previous builds?

Those are flex couplings, not resonators. They allow for the exhaust to flex when the engine is revved, etc.

Ill have to look at the tires, as i don't remember.

They only thing that came with the BORLA system was from mid pipe back and it alll had to be modified to fit the car. I dont want anybody to think that if you order a borla system for a C5 it is going to bolt into the SRIII Frame.

It's not on the road yet. It is very close, but i still need to adjust the coil overs one more time, adjust the alignment as best i can at home, bolt the drivers seat down, hook up the tach, and a few other small things.

Run video from today. Not sure why it isnt idling down quicker. Perhaps the computer just needs to learn.

This is a stunning car. What is it's expected value? What are you hoping it sells for at Mecum? I know that's a loaded question but I'm just wondering what kind of value these quality Resto Mods bring it.

I have no idea what to expect. One recently sold at Mecum Indy for 275,000 and while it was an overall nice build, I thought that particular car would have been more in the 190,000 range. They are all over the board depending on which auction it is, how lucky or unlucky the seller is that day, and if there are two or more people that just must have that particular car. This is the nicest car I've built to date and I am not letting it go for less than what I feel it is worth. I've dropped my reserve on 3 cars in the past and I regret selling each one of them for the price they brought at auction. The Dallas auction is one of the newer auctions, so that makes it even more difficult to determine what will happen.

What size tire are you running in the rear? What offset? I know its in here some where, but how much did SRIII narrow the rear end? Im trying to calculate if I will be ok on stock fenders or not.

The stupid money seems to be at BJ Scottsdale, in Jan., hands down, err, rather, hands up.
Your car is so sweet I'm sure it would bring the house down.

I am running 275 tires on the rear, but there is room for a much larger wheel and tire. I dont know if i screwed up the measurements or if Boze did, but if the offset were different, i could run around a 295, possibly even a 315 with the stock quarters, but you must remember that the entire rear floor and wheel housings are new. From my limited test drives, this combo seems to be pretty great so far. Fronts are 245s...no rub and they fit just perfect. If you want specs for the front, give Zak a Boze wheels a call.

BTW, i have not experienced any issues with knocking or clunking from the detroit locker on this car. I have a detroit locker in a 67 mustang that sounds like it is going to fall apart every time i turn the wheels, so that was a major concern of mine.

Sometimes, you just never know. I will agree though that bidders are willing to spend more at Barrett-Jackson due to the no reserve hyped up environment. Mecum is very tame comparatively speaking and even gets pretty boring at some points, especially when one car after the other aren't meeting the reserve amount. I have no problem bringing this car home if the reserve is not met. At least i would get to enjoy it for a little while. If that does happen, i will consider consigning it for BJ-Scottsdale.

I had a 55 Belair with a blown 427 automatic with a Detroit Locker and that thing was noisy as hell when taking a corner. But it would really take a beating at the track. Never had a problem other than being noisy.

I had a Detroit Locker that would scare the hell out of me when turning a corner and was told to add the GM additive which at that time was made from whale oil. This fixed the problem and after that it would only go Bang every once in a while.

That helps. SRIII narrowed my rear 5 inches. Mike said I *should* be able to get 305's under it but not sure on what the best size is for availability either. Im currently in the process of figuring out how I want to approach cutting the rear floor out. I have a C4 Dana. Did you pick your tubs up from Mike? He told me to just move the stock wells in and glass the gap. I ultimately dont want to wish later down the road I did wider quarters. I will be replacing both and have new factory panels... Just want to make sure its right. This is my first vette and just trying to figure it all out. Thanks for the info.

I'm working on making some videos of the car and thought I would share.
The lighting isn't the best, but the videos turned out ok.

Interior Video follwed by Engine and Engine Compartment Video. I mention the wrong lot number, so ignore that portion.

Yeah, it was pretty dark when viewing the rear cabin. Is your courtesy ceiling light not working? Nevertheless, enjoyed the video.
