63 Corvette delivered to me 50 years ago today.
50 years ago today, a Hot Rod Custom guy (me) changed into a Corvette guy.....
*************
You really didn't expect me to keep it stock did you.
**********
****************
Drove it on Daytona Beach at dawn at 110mph, right past the Worlds Land Speed historic marker.
But I did stop later that day.......
***********
*************
Just last week my son and I found some of the Daytona Sand still in the trailing arms.
************
***************
Corvette was daily transportation, dates were often getting a case of beer and running thru snowdrifts. Sometimes had to go to gas station to get on lift to get snow and ice out of shift linkage.
Lived in Chicago for 4 years, drove the car in the blizzard of 67. Never got stuck that it couldn't get out.
*******************
******************
It was my sports car, family car, and truck when needed.
*********************
*************
It still runs pretty fast. 13.7 et 104 mph short shifting due to a miss.
***************
*************
185,000 Plus miles and still looks pretty good, (not so the owner
************
**************
Car will be cared for well by the next generation caretaker. (much better than the first generation. Thanks son.....

Melting Slicks
Great story. You and my late father share a lot of the same attributes (hot rod guy getting into a Corvette, driving in the snow, the car being a truck at times, etc.), and I'm glad to see another one family car in the ranks.

I'm so envious of those who have been able to hang on to their cars all those years. if only.
Is that a later FI emblem on the fender? if so, what's the story there?
I know where there's a one family black on black pg swc that I spent some time in wile in high school. similar miles but your's is in better shape.

Really cool history.
The original owner of my '63 was a doctor in upstate NY who made house calls
in blizzards for the 1st 5 yrs of the cars life.
Thanks for sharing!! Your car looks beautiful.
