Default New C2 Owner!! '66 Coupe

Picked up a '66 Coupe this morning in Atlanta and drove straight through to Arkansas, about 500 miles and 8hours later not a single issue. The car is just a driver, I've owned C4's & C5's for the past 18 years and I have never had so much attention on the highway, more thumbs up, honks & waves than I could count.

Based on the trim tag it was originally Laguna Blue, so I think that's what it will go back to. With my screen name and personalized tags I don't think I can keep it red.

I'm excited, but it sucked that I found the cabin vent ***** below the dash after I pulled into my driveway!!! It was a very warm day for a coupe without air. Here are a couple pics:

Oh for goodness sakes, look at that little hot tamale striking the pose.
They are born knowing what to do when they get near a sting ray.

welcome to the classic vette club... your car is a beauty!

It's tough to beat a mid-year coupe in looks and you've got a real beauty there. Best of luck with it.

Get her to do the same pose when she is 18 and the car is blue. Then hang both 8x10s side by side.

Rear end of the C2 coupe is just gorgeous! Love when the 2 exhaust tips stick out that much.

Hahaha....that kid loves the camera. She'll be a star! Nice coupe, very bright. My 66 was originally marina blue and I love that colour.

Congratulations on your purchase of the 66. Welcome to the club. You are correct. These coupes without AC are hot in the summer months. That is one option I wish I had on my car.

Great looking car, I'm sure you're gonna love it!! Good to see that someone into the later models also has an interest in the earlier cars, the ones that established the "Corvette" image in so many of our minds!

My experience is just the reverse of yours, I was driving my '63 Convertible weekdays in Jonesboro at ASU back in 1967 after my Vietnam trip was finished. Although I don't own the '63 now, I do have a '65 coupe with factory A/C that I've had for many, many years. Just a few months back I had it down in Jonesboro for a battery replacement and had it stall on me at the first light leaving town heading north (on Stadium Boulevard I think), and couldn't get restarted. After some time and fiddling, some of the local Vette Club members and I were able to get it going. I didn't find the problem until after I returned home in SE Missouri, the coil wire was burned completely in two, had to jump a spark gap of 3/8" or so. Here's a pic .v . . . . . .

I've had a couple of mid-year cars for several years, and only recently decided to add a "later" model, here's a pic of my 2004 Commemorative Edition . . . . . . . .

Hope to view your cars in person in the future, perhaps at one of the local car shows, Jonesboro or Piggott? Again, great looking car! Congrats!!

Not Red Rob welcome to the Corvette Forum. I think you will be doing the correct thing putting your 66 Coupe back to the original color. Much to peoples dismay Not All Corvettes Are Red. You will find plenty of help (if you need it) here on the Forum. Some good and some like Bubba would do it. Bubba's way is probably cheaper but probably not as correct. You will soon see that these C1 & C2 Corvettes are sometimes like BOATS. Brake Out Another Thousand Ha Ha Ha, but they are fun.

Welcome to the CF. Very nice coupe. I'm sure you know what your in for relative to changing the color. After it's done, remember, 'ya gotta drive the miles to get the smiles. I know, you already experienced that part of Vette ownership. Dennis

Driving a midyear coupe is like riding in a parade all the time. Congratulations on a great looking Vette.

I've got a full house for a couple nights until the Z06 leaves for its new home. As you can see I'm kind of partial to blue. I'm going to catch all kinds of flack from our corvette club, I've had "NOT RED" plates for past ten years. I guess I'll tell them it's actually a blue car that's been painted red, I think that makes it ok.
